MYST
Powdered Glass
Myst will soften an image, cause highlights to bloom, and lower contrast. Subtle sparkles may also appear, especially from bright sources. Using Myst with the LumaTray lifts blacks, similar to the Panaflasher. Alternate effects can be achieved by using different ratios of isopropyl and powdered glass.
Due to the size of the particles Myst will always have a blooming effect present. Typically cinematographers activate the filter and “Let it ride” while the powder slowly settles over the next thirty minutes or so.
Glass size plays a major role in the effect.
Crush (Crushed Glass) behaves more as an effects filter.
